Terms of use

Preliminary information—not an official report

Johnson County Scanner summarizes radio traffic and related public-safety information. Calls may be delayed, incomplete, misheard, corrected, combined, or omitted. A map point is an approximate area and must not be treated as a confirmed address, official finding, criminal allegation, or final outcome.

Emergency use

Do not rely on this service for emergencies, evacuation decisions, travel safety, or instructions from public officials. Call 911 for immediate help and follow official agency alerts.

Responsible use

Do not use the service to harass, identify, track, confront, or interfere with people, responders, victims, patients, or locations associated with a call. Do not republish preliminary information as confirmed fact.

Availability and changes

We may correct, remove, delay, or limit information when accuracy, privacy, safety, system health, or legal obligations require it. Features and coverage may change as the service improves.

Privacy

What the service uses

Visitors can browse the free call map without creating an account. If you sign in, we receive the account identifier and email supplied through the sign-in service. Supporter accounts may also store membership status, Stripe customer and subscription references, saved places, and whether saved-place alerts were viewed.

Payments

Stripe processes checkout and billing. Johnson County Scanner does not receive or store full payment-card numbers. Stripe's own privacy terms apply to information submitted during checkout.

Location

The “Near me” button uses your device's approximate location in the browser to move the map. The dashboard does not send that location to Johnson County Scanner. Public call markers are intentionally approximate.

Retention and sharing

Account and membership records are kept as needed to provide the service, manage billing, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell saved-place or membership information. Service providers may process limited data needed for hosting, authentication, payments, and system operation.

Founding Supporter membership

$4.99 per month while the founding rate is offered

A membership renews automatically each month until canceled. Before payment, Stripe Checkout shows the price and billing terms.

What membership includes

Supporters receive the features shown on the account and pricing pages, including expanded current-call access and rolling history. Scanner coverage and individual call completeness are not guaranteed.

Canceling

Use “Manage membership” on your account to open Stripe's billing portal. The portal shows when cancellation takes effect and lets you manage the payment method. Access changes when Stripe reports that the subscription is no longer active or trialing.

Refunds and billing questions

Billing concerns will be reviewed individually, subject to applicable law and the terms shown at checkout. Send billing questions through the Johnson County Scanner Facebook page.

Corrections & contact

Help us correct preliminary information

During the public beta, send corrections, privacy concerns, and billing questions through the Johnson County Scanner Facebook page that directed you to this dashboard. Include the approximate time and general location of the call, but do not send medical records, full identification numbers, payment-card details, or other sensitive personal information.

For account or billing help, include the email used to sign in, but never send payment-card details through Facebook.
